D2s at Robogames 2016

Robogames, essentially the current world championships for robot competition, was run this past weekend in Pleasanton, CA.  Four of our D2 robot kits were entered in the Beetleweight division, and they had a spectacular showing!  Not only did the D2s sweep the podium, taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, the D2 robots were undefeated in matches against other robots, only losing in matches to other D2 robots.  All of the D2 drivers entered in Robogames this year were from the Western Allied Robotics robot combat club, based in the Seattle area, the birthplace of the D2 combat robot kit.  The D2 drivers were all experienced in robot combat, having competed in the Western Allied Robotics events for at least the past year, competing against some awesome vertical and horizontal spinners, such as Allosaurus, Dark Pummeler, and Debacle, honing their skills and learning strategies to win against such capable robots.  While we are very pleased with the performance of the D2 kit-bots at Robogames, a larger part of the credit goes to the fantastic driving performance by these three young competitors!  Congratulations Morgan (gold), Samantha (silver), and Ethan (bronze)!
